Hay Bar

PricesHayBar Feeder

The HayBar feeder is a floor mounted, black, high density polyethelene feeder with a reinforced top edge.

The Hay Bar is rust proof, rot proof, durable and easy to clean. Designed with the horse’s natural feeding position in mind the Hay Bar is a Horse friendly, hygienic, labour saving device.

Available in Horse or Pony size options.

Hay Bar has now firmly established itself in top thoroughbred studs and racing yards where the feeding position, hygiene and safety are paramount.

Horses in training and young stock are a very precious and expensive commodity.  They are a huge responsibility and caring for them is not always easy.  It is essential that they get every opportunity to maintain a natural way of living. Simple things like the position in which they feed can have a huge impact on how they mature and how responsive they are to training.

Feeding from the floor “as nature intended” is essential.  Not only does it ensure that the limbs and back get every chance to relax correctly but it can also have an impact on the jaw alignment and that in turn is important as it ensures that the feed given is fully utilized.  We all know that so many youngsters have difficulty when it comes to biting – usually this is because the jaw is out of alignment.  Feeding from the floor is also paramount for the respiration – the feeding position helps to drain down the airway and sinus.  All these points help to create the finer detail which in turn ensures the best possible result.

Hay Bar truly solves the problem for the stabled horse.  The feeding position is correct and it is also far safer than nets and racks that can be very dangerous when used with exuberant, fit youngsters. When feeding from the floor without Hay Bar it is difficult to ensure how much forage has been taken and how much has just been wasted along with the bedding. Caring for the stabled horse and knowing that one is creating a safe and natural environment is certainly helped by the Hay Bar system.
