INTRODUCTION

Saltire Stables began in 1992 with the simple ethos of designing, manufacturing and erecting a quality, value for money range of buildings for the equestrian community. In the years since our foundation, we have kept to that ethos and we still manufacture and erect every timber building that we offer with our own staff, keeping our quality standards as high as possible, using kiln dried full pressure treated components.

As well as our "standard" range we can make just about any timber framed structure - just send us a sketch and we can cost it for you!


GENERAL TERMS – Applicable to all buildings

• All products are offered strictly in accordance with our standard terms and conditions of sale.
• All prices exclude VAT.
• All prices are ex works Cupar, transport is costed at 5% of order value (subject to min charge detailed below).
• All building prices include erection. Self erection discount 17.5%.
• Site Visits and quotations are free of charge.
• Planning Permission Drawings (£125) and Technical Building Warrant drawings (£200), are refunded in full on final bill.
• Structural Engineering Certificates are bespoke, charged at cost and are non refundable.
• All offers are made subject to our standard terms and conditions of sale shown in brochure or on our website.
• A deposit of 25% is required with all orders refundable should planning permission not be granted.
• The balance of the order is payable with 7 days of completion.

TRANSPORTATION

The costs of delivering the components, our men and machinery to erect the buildings is charged at 5% of order value, subject to the following minimum charges, per order and calculated using Autoroute Express
0 - 99 mls  £125        100 – 200 mls  £195        201 – 300 mls £300        301 – 400 mls £500
Offshore Locations and Islands costed to nearest ferryport. Export orders are subject to individual quotation based on delivery by artic lorry usually on a groupage rate. Customers must have access suitable for these lorries and be able to unload such vehicles.

PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE

We have been supplying structures since 1992 and we are sure that our buildings offer the best value for money around - especially when you consider our long term guarantees, detailed specifications and our support services.  “Cheaper buildings” which we come across nearly always have lighter specifications or construction that would not stand the test of time in our Northern Climate.  However we are so confident in our buildings that should you get a cheaper quotation for any buildings with the same specification and guarantee, ie.  like for like, simply send us the quotation so that we can verify it and we will match their offer.

LOW CARBON BUILDINGS

One of the great things about timber building systems is that they leave a small carbon footprint. Over it’s lifetime, timber emits 5 times less carbon than concrete and 10 times less that steel! In addition Saltire Stables have had lean manufacturing systems in place for many years which minimise waste and we also recycle all our timber offcuts which are turned into mulch for parks, gardens and riding surfaces. Every stable we manufacture typically locks up 0.7 tonnes of carbon and our typical double garage about 1.2 tonnes.

Our buildings are also lighter to transport and designed to be erected by manpower only meaning they are just about as green as it is possible to be at the current point in time!


DRAWINGS / TECHNICAL SUPPORT

When we send you a quote, we include a layout plan drawing and typical concrete details free of charge. The layout plan and quotation can be amended as required until correct. When a layout and the specification are finalised and you are ready to order we will send an order confirmation and detailed basework drawings.  You can also place an order to secure a fixed price (held for 1 year) even if permissions are required. If planning is not granted then the deposit can be refunded in full.

In many cases, planning permission is not requierd but we are happy to visit your proposed site without any obligation to offer free advice. If planning permission is needed, we can provide a full set of elevation drawings and specifications (usually in electronic CAD form) to which you add the location plan to finalise your application. These drawings cost £125 and will be refunded against your final invoice.

On occasion, the council may require full technical drawings for building warrant purposes. As these are unique to your building, there is a charge of £200 for these which again is refunded in full against your final invoice. Rarely (and usually only on larger structures) you may require a structural engineer's certificate which includes bespoke engineering calculations to reflect your location and elevation and site investigation works to confirm ground strength, suitability and porosity tests. In this case the agreed charge is non refundable.

STABLES RANGE

External Looseboxes

All looseboxes and cornerboxes include kicklining. All include 1.1m canopy to front.

TAY models have Black Onduline sheeting with one translucent sheet per bay on rear face of roof.

FORTH models have a sarked roof as standard, with Black Onduline / translucent sheet and a Tyvek frame vapour barrier.

CLYDE models have a sarked roof as standard, with Box Profile metal or Farmscape roofing, upper rear polycarbonate light and Tyvek barrier.

ECONOMY SHELTER

Specifically designed for self erection - all components included - you would need 2 people, a cordless screwdriver, hammer and stepladder.

This building has been designed to keep wastage to the absolute minimum and be the most economical possible without compromising strength.

STANDARD FIELD SHELTERS

All field shelters have paired minimum 1.5m (5’0) front openings with sliprails. These openings can be placed free of charge in any location and can be of any size in accordance with customer preference.

All shelters have 0.9 – 1.1m canopy to front as standard and Onduline Roofing with a clear roof sheet per bay on rear face of roof.

All shelters have full width 350mm tall Yorkshire boarded ventilation slot on rear face.

Shelters are excluded from storm damage guarantee unless bolted to concrete base.

BARNS RANGE

All units have sarking in 11mm OSB with Dalpro vapour membrane and Onduline Roofing in black as standard + clear or polycarbonate lights.

All units include Tyvek or similar vapour barriers in external walls.

All stalls include kicklining to eaves height.

Both models incorporate the Saltire range of Pentland Internals with timber frame and steel upper grill as standard.

Designed to individual requirements in a range of sizes, following customer request. We show below a couple of worked examples for guidance.

Typical Layout; 24’ x 34’ external (7.2 x 10.4m) containing:

• 4 no Pentland 12' x 12' (3.6 x 3.6m) stalls, steel partition grills and 11mm OSB full lining and hinged bottom doors.
• 1 no 10’ x 7’ (3.0 x 2.1m) tackroom with mezzanine storage ceiling, unlined, 2’6 (760mm) access door.
• 17’ x 10’ (5.1 x 3.0m) working area.
• 2 x paired full stable doors for access.
• Translucent sheets above each bay.
• Internal wall supported roof structure.

Typical Layout; 34’ x 48’ external (10.8m x 14.4m) containing:

• 6 no Pentland 12' x 12' (3.6 x 3.6m) stalls, steel partition grills and full 18mm OSB lining.
• Hinged bottom doors and top ½ doors with fixed window to all stalls.
• 2 no 6' x 12' (1.8 x 3.6m) rooms for tack & restroom, unlined, 2’6 access door (760mm), fixed external window.
• Mezzanine ceiling to both rooms.
• Polycarbonate lights on upper side walls.
• 1 no 12' x 12' (3.6 x 3.6m) washbay area with full ht lining and internal vapour barrier.
• 48’ x 10’ (14.4 x 3.0m) full length working corridor with full width sliding door to one end.
• Paired 4’0 doors to other end.
• Kerto S laminated structural beam Portal Frame open plan roof structure.

INTERNAL STABLING RANGE

All stalls include kicklining or boarding to eaves height or grill height depending on model.

DOORS AND WINDOWS

All timber components are fully pressure treated CCA green coloured and made to a tolerance of +/- 5mm
Steel components are fully galvanised.

All sizes are nominal for guidance – please refer to detailed specifications/quotations for exact sizes.

For accuracy we will only manufacture once we are given the exact brickwork opening sizes you give us unless you choose a standard size.

Timber door frames are 70mm wide x 90mm deep with a 15mm closing allowance ie 1220 door + 15mm + (2 x 70mm) = 1375mm.

Timber doors include a 100mm trim allowance at the bottom for final finishing.

TIMBER

Plywood lined top and bottom, 18” tee hinges, 9.5” kicklatch, 8” brenton padbolts, 6” cabin hooks and angled chewstrip to top of bottom door.

STEEL FRAMED

They will be manufactured to the brickwork sizes you give us unless you choose a standard size with an L-shaped angle iron plate to fit around opening for bolting purposes.

EQUINE ESSENTIALS

A range of items designed for the successful completion of all equestrian buildings.

All metal components are either galvanised or have a powder coated colour finish.

All sizes are nominal for guidance – please refer to detailed specifications/quotations for exact sizes.

All items are offered with free fitting whilst on site excluding plumbing and rubber matting systems.

We also can supply all the components necessary for any ongoing repair & maintenance projects you have.

IRONMONGERY

HOME DELIVERY

Hardware items are fitted free of charge if ordered for supply with buildings.

Other items are sent on usual 3 day courier delivery (UK mainland) and customers must be there to unload and sign for goods.

For heavy joinery items like stable doors please contact us as depending on location we may be able to deliver these using our transport.

Typical “pallet” rates for delivery are £100 but do vary depending on destination.

Rubber Matting can be fitted while on site whilst erecting buildings at 15% premium but free delivery.

GARAGES & WORKSHOPS

All units have Black Onduline Roofing over sarking deck with 2 x clear windows OR polycarbonate lights.

All units include Tyvek or similar vapour barriers in external walls.

Price Guide – a full range of sizes is available to exact customer requirement. Our max clear span is 11m/36’.

HOME OFFICES

They are available in a wide range of sizes and can include internal room partitioning and other doors and windows as required. They are often combined with a workshop or store to provide flexible accommodation.
